A LIFE
IN SEARCH OF
MEANING
I have spent my life designing.
I was always thinking about what it means to be human.
Why do we find something beautiful?
Why does something move us?
I thought about it, but never really knew.
I wasn’t looking for an answer.
I simply kept creating.
And sometimes,
something I couldn’t see before
would begin to appear.
I kept going because I wanted to see it.

MEANING

Hollywood taught me imagination.
Japan taught me transformation.
Today, I continue to search for meaning.

DESIGN
CREATES
MEANING
Design is not about defining the meaning
before giving it form.
It begins by looking closely
at something that has yet to find words.
Meaning is not something we create.
It is something we discover.
Design is about
giving form to that meaning.
Meaning becomes culture.
Culture becomes future.
ON MEANING
What Is Meaning?
Looking back,
I realize that things I could not understand at the time
sometimes begin to connect years later
and take on meaning.
Perhaps meaning is not something
that is visible from the beginning,
but something that gradually reveals itself
as we live through time.
For a long time,
I thought I was looking at form.
But what I had really been looking at all along
was the shape of meaning.

REFLECTIONS ON BEING
Beauty, freedom, joy, hope, encounters.
Over the course of my life,
many things have stayed with me.
I am not trying to find answers.
I simply follow the memories that remain.
I want to look at them a little more closely
and see what meaning they may have held.
THE TAKIONO APPROACH
SEE
Perceive what is unseen.
SHAPE
Give form to what emerges.
TRANSFORM
Let meaning change perception.
Meaningful design begins with seeing…
And sometimes, the form it takes
changes the way people see.
Every meaningful brand begins with a question.
Why do you want to bring this brand to life—now?
Whatever the scale of the project,
I remain personally involved from beginning to end.
" Have a project in mind? Let’s begin with a conversation."
